This is an installment of the series of articles that are to be published daily. They focus on different parts of the NWN2 persistent world Cerea Island 2. The subjects will rotate between the following: the world(cosmology and similar), gods, history, places, custom systems, big events of the past, characters, old adventures, new adventures and organizations. -- Money The base monetary unit is one copper piece. A Copper piece is approximately the lowest possible daily wage anyone can get. A normal laborer will likely get few coppers a day.
The higher units of money are: The loot system Basic Most of the time when a creature is killed or a chest is looted the result is “generic loot” that is divided among party members automatically. Normally a kill of a monster creates 1-10 lb of generic loot in total. Generic loot is given in different levels depending on monster level: type1: 1cp/10lb , type2: 1cp/lb, type3: 1bp/lb , type4: 1sp/lb , type5: 1gp/lb or type6: 1pp/lb. For example: a goblin might carry type 1 loot, thus you need to carry 10 lb of that to get 1 cp when sold, whereas a dragon might carry type 5 loot, so every pound of it will give you 1gp when sold. The same goes for any money a monster has, it is also automatically divided among the party. Representation Generic loot creates loot bag items in players inventory. If he has already generic loot, it will be changed instead so that the loot he has is increased in weight and value, until one gets heavy enough and then a new bag starts to accumulate. No lootable bodies or body bags appear for generic loot. Setting pick up level In the settings one can set the minimum level of loot/weight unit to pick up, and if some party member does not pick up given generic loot, it is shared among those that do. Special loot Every now and then an actual special quest related item is created, it will be in the body as loot as normal. Whereas if the creature has only generic loot, no lootable body will appear. Specific Items Occasionally the enemies killed will have usable items, like weapons, scrolls, potions, armor or ammunition and those are gained as such items. They are also automatically picked up by the one doing the kill. Shops Basic Shops allow you to buy and sell things that you need. The implementation of shops is very different from NWN2 normal as is the money. Buying To buy things you should go to the shop, look through the shop containers in form of chests, shelfs and so on. The items have a price tag. You can then pick up what you are interested in and if equippable freely try them on. When you find something you wish to buy, you should put back the rest of the items you picked up to the place you took them from as shopkeepers do not like you dropping them on the floor. Actual buying is done by talking to the shopkeeper asking to buy the things. When you buy something, the final buying price is modified by your appraise skill. You cannot exit a shop carrying unpaid merchandise. Selling Selling works by going to the shop and placing items you wish to see in the merchants desk. Then to do actual selling, talk to the shopkeeper who will tell you what he offers for them. You can then sell or not sell. The price is modified by your appraise skill. Selling Loot When you have acquired loot from adventuring, you can also sell them to most shopkeepers. Selling such is done by just going to a shopkeeper and telling them you want to sell some of your loot. Special Shops Some of the special stores, like the herb shop and the mage tower study material shop allow you to buy special things if you fulfill some conditions. In general the condition is helping the shopkeeper first, and even then the amount you can buy is limited by how much you have helped the shopkeeper or a guild rank. |
